If you are looking for an outdoor security camera you can use for long range license plate capture during the day or night, with advanced features like a mechanical IR filter and the latest Sony Effio video processor, look no further.
Sony Video & the EFFIO Video Processor
We put a 1/3″ color Sony EXView CCD video sensor at the front end of this camera. Mechanical optics are provided by a manual 5-50mm varifocal lens with auto-iris. This combination creates crystal clear imaging data that feeds an advanced Sony Effio video processor. Along with sensitivity that provides true day/night operation, the STI-644 has an automatic infrared subsystem and a mechanical IR filter to prevent IR-related focus shift.
Users and installers alike will appreciate the many fine features available in the OSD menu, thanks in a large part to the Sony Effio video processor.
The Effio video processor sits at the analog front end (AFE) of the video image capture process (see simplified diagram at left). Here it intercepts signals prior to digital signal processing. This provides the DSP circuitry with clean and efficient signals that make its job easier, freeing up space for further enhancements to be added to the available real estate on the chipset at micro-component level. These enhancements create higher resolution and provide more options in the OSD.
When the camera picks up an image, electric signals originate in the video sensor and pass immediately to an analog-to-digital convertor (ADC) and other front-end signal processing circuitry. This is where the Effio video processor works, in the analog front-end (AFE). It intercepts and enhances raw video data and then passes it to the digital signal processor (DSP), where digitization and more enhancement and amplification occurs.
Many manufacturers are advertising Effio technology in their cameras. It is worth noting that Effio video processing depends on support circuitry and is not a standalone product. Our products maintain original Effio quality by using matched Sony components. Beware of similar products that may be advertised at far lower prices because they will likely contain off-the-shelf (unmatched) components.
OSD Pre-Pro Setup
Our engineers have already programmed default settings for optimum performance. This “pre-programming” by professional technicians often means the camera is good-to-go 99% of the time straight from the box. Sometimes only minimum configuration changes may be required to get a perfect picture. Reduced setup time and high quality imaging make this camera attractive for many large-scale installations.
